It also encourages the targeting audience to claim their income tax credit which was usually overlooked. I collaborated with artist Tracie Ching on this project. With her creating the mesmerizing illustrations, I worked on the posters' layout, type, and colors. Social Media Toolkits GSO team provide social media toolkits for grantees, donors, and trustees who don't have a creative team but would like to call awareness of the earned tax credit and special dates. For each month, the creative team selects 10 to 12 related captions and I designed graphics for each of them, we also created Spanish and Simplified Chinese versions targeting audience from different cultural backgrounds. Following are selected examples of social media toolkits since September 2022. The Bargain Girl is a character I designed for the super power project.&nbsp;Living in an era full of unexpected turmoil, we are not that close to a life crisis, but price fluctuations have constantly affected our life. As individuals, we seem to have no other choice than become a spectator in this process. With the spread of technology and online shopping, people are gradually losing the ability to bargain. We are too used to picking up everything we want at the grocery store or clicking on a website to place an order without thinking about it. Over time, we are gradually losing the power of bargaining, and in this way become victims of the capital force, making them able to manipulate the market at will and we cannot refuse…I realize that we need a heroine whose power is “everyday”, but also useful in some way. Here comes the Bargain Girl. Bargaining has always been her power to make life better, from a penny at the market to whether or not her family could live from starving, from one Yuan at the fabric store to whether or not a jacket would keep the kids warm in winter. Thus when I collect the material that could be related with the bargain power, I specifically focused on things that are down to the earth, related with daily life and my cultural background. Are.na channel:&nbsp;Bargain I pinned up my collected materials related to bargain and roughly grouped them by topics. The topics include the images of people who used bargaining skills a lot, for example elder ladies in China, and how bargain is depicted in pop culture and movies.&nbsp; To learn about places where bargain happened, I collected mateials of yard sale farmers market. I also watched things that are not that usual, such as the recording of bargaining for lower medicine price in the medical care system.&nbsp; To create an aesthetic. I browsed and collected fashion design of mask, modular fashion suit and sustainabel fashion. After finished collect source materials, I imagined how the Bargain Girl looks like in different circumstances. Consider about the reality, when she goes to bargain in a farmer’s market, her costume might looks different from when she goes to a luxury shop.&nbsp; I selected the most convincing design among all the sketchs, which is a suit has similar structure as chain mail. Also electronics and technologies that can help her bargain with systems and machines.&nbsp; The weapon of the Bargain girl is a re-designed pricing gun, which is able to produce pricing tag stickers that is common to see in grocery stores. After deciding the shape and size of each module (square and triangles). I need to count percisely by layering paper squares on top of the base. I used my circuit board as a reference, took a new set of sensor and led lights to create a circuit that fly over the costume.&nbsp; Consider about the length to extend led form board on my chest to the arm I hold the pricing gun, I selected copper wires that are much longer than the jumper wires. I soldered the wires onto each led light, and connected them back onto my ESP 32 board.&nbsp; For the sensor, I did something that’s a little bit different. The sensor has a few extended connect points, which allow me to connect it back onto the board with male-female wires. I collected coupons from my mail box. Including grocery shopping, fast food, beauty, insurance and investment. I attached them onto the vest with hot glue and my discount tags. At the back of my vest, I constructed a coupon cape to make the costume more like a super hero. The first one is the process of myself turning form the everyday me to the alter-ego Bargain Girl. In this animation, my suit will detect an object that is ready to be discounted, the sensor recieves a signal, and the lights will be turned on by sequence. After the charging process finished, I’ll turn into the Bargain Girl and ready to use my power. I set up a scene with the power suit, my heroine image, a screen that plays my video and a set of print out with the scene of a gas station and a grocery store. During the demo, I charged my power suit, and printed a discount sticker with my pricing gun. After sticking it on top of the pricning lable of the gas station, the price decreases from 6.499 to it’s half - 3.250. On the second step, we use the currency exchange api to exchange our USD amount to EUR with equal value. On the third step, a random product generator will generate a product with certain price. If our amount of EUR can afford the product, we will go to route A, if not, we will go to route B. Endings For ending A, the amount of EUR is greater than the price of the product. Our visitor will get a cat picture from the cat API, plus, a random zen quote for them from the zen quote API. For ending B, the EUR we have is smaller than the price of the product, we will use the EUR to echange to longitude and USD to latitude values. With the geographical values, we are able to see the temperature of that location on the weather API. The final product of this route is a meme. At the end of each ending, we will generate a print setup of our Rube Goldberg Machine with whatever our visitors created on this page, they can download the PDF or print the page if they would love to do that. First, a pulse sensor that can detact human heart pulse by analyzing the change of incoming light. The sensor will upload data to the ESP 32 board, and transfer the data to the built-in led light and the servo motor. My group member Shiyi, Yue and myself selected the iconic Romeo and Juliet (1968) as our base video, we read through the script and selected the part of conversations between female characters. Taking away the love and hate theme between the two family and gave a spotlight on women of house Capulet. We replaced the voices of characters with the overdub voice of all three of us, and replaced their face with the combination of our faces. While this video turn out to be hilarious, we also notice the vibrant emotions and personalities in Romeo and Juliet as the female characters interact with each other in the context of love, marriage and family hatred. Based on her costume in the movie, we tied our hair up to get closer to her look. Creating the voices We used Descript to clone our voices for the three characters. Each of them has different personality, so their voice should also represent their characteristics. Juliet’s voice is a combination of our normal voice. Nurse has an optimistic personality so we made her voice sounds hilarious. And Lady Capulet’s voice sounds serious, decent and low. (Below is a recoding of the three of us read through the script with the tone of Lady Capulet). After we got the recordings done, we submitted our voices for Descript to train and combine. During this time, we selected the portion of the script focusing on conversation between the three female characters. When the train was finished, we managed the voices of characters to match with their own part. First we need to cut the scenes we needed from the original movie. Then, we separated each characters faces by masking and editing.
