Preseidential Election 1982

Story and Illustration

This series of works is based on a fictional world set during the 1982 presidential election in an imagined South American country. The main characters are a child running for president, his vice-presidential candidate, and a dog who is also the child’s older brother.

The visual style draws inspiration from campaign materials from the Reagan–Carter presidential election. I created a visual distinction between the campaign materials and the narrative illustrations: the campaign materials use bright, vivid colors, while the narrative illustrations are rendered in black and white with a colder, more somber tone.
